Publishing announcements

WorkflowsUpdated September 28, 2026

Post short announcements to your organization's profile so followers, members and people deciding whether to join can see what you are doing.

On this page

Announcements are short, dated posts that appear on your organization's profile. Anyone who visits the profile sees the ones you mark for everyone; members also see the ones you mark members only. They are the simplest way to show that your organization is active.

Announcements are not in the workspace sidebar. Your workspace Dashboard has an Announcements section that lists the three you edited most recently, in any state, with a Draft, Archived or Members only badge where one applies. Select one to open it in the editor. In the section's header, All opens the full list and, once you have posted at least one announcement, New starts another. Everyone on your team who can view announcements sees the section. When you have none yet, it says what announcements are and, if you can write them, offers New announcement.

Writing an announcement

Choose New on the Dashboard (New announcement while the section is empty), or New announcement on the full list, to open the editor.

Under What happened, give the announcement a title and write the body. Plain text is all you need — leave a blank line between paragraphs, and lead with the point, because the first line is what shows in lists. The counter under the body caps you at 10,000 characters. You can add one image, which appears above the announcement; 1200 x 630px is a good size.

Under Who can see it, pick one of two choices:

  • Anyone — on your profile for followers, members and visitors.
  • Members only — only people with a membership see it.

Those are the only two. There is no segment, tag, tier or list picker in the announcement editor, so you cannot aim an announcement at part of your membership. When you need to reach a specific group of people, send an email campaign instead and pick the audience there. See Sending an email campaign and Choosing an audience for your email.

Choose Publish to put the announcement on your profile now, or Save draft to come back to it. Publishing happens immediately; there is no way to schedule an announcement for a later date or time.

Publishing needs a verified organization. If yours is not verified yet, choosing Publish saves the post and tells you it was Saved as a draft, because your organization needs to be verified before it can publish. Publishing a draft from a row menu shows that message as an error and leaves it in Drafts.

Publishing does not send anything

Publishing an announcement delivers no message. There is no email, no text, no push notification and no in-app alert — the post is written, and it appears on the surfaces below. People see it when they visit your profile, or when it turns up in their feed in the app. Nothing arrives in anyone's inbox, so there is no per-member setting for announcements on the notification preferences page either.

If an announcement needs to land in front of people rather than wait for them, treat it as an email or a text and send it that way.

Managing what you have posted

The full list, which All opens, groups your posts under Published ("Live on your profile."), Drafts ("Only your team can see these.") and Archived ("Off the profile, kept for the record."). A group disappears when it is empty. Rows marked members only carry a Members only badge; published rows show the date they went live, and everything else shows when it was last edited.

Each row's menu offers:

  • Edit the title, body, image or audience. Once an announcement is live the editor shows a single Save changes button, and your edits go out the moment you save.
  • Publish a draft or an archived post.
  • Unpublish a live post. It returns to Drafts and loses its published date, so publishing it again dates it to the day it goes live the second time.
  • Archive anything that is not already archived. Archiving keeps the original published date, but it takes the post off every place readers see it — the profile, the app and the feed.
  • Delete the post outright. You are asked to confirm, and it cannot be undone.

Before you have written anything, the page reads No announcements yet and offers Write the first announcement.

Where announcements appear

On the web, your organization's profile in OrganizeOS shows an Announcements section with the three newest published announcements, each shown whole, dated, and marked members only where that applies. The section is hidden when you have none. The web profile does not link to an archive, so a reader on the web sees those three and no more.

In the OrganizeOS app, the profile shows an Announcements card with three posts; tapping one opens it whole. Once you have more than three published announcements, tapping the card's title opens the full list. Explore also shows a From organizations you follow card that mixes your published announcements in with your events and campaigns. See Organization profiles and following and Exploring organizations near you.

Announcements do not appear on your organization's own public website at your subdomain or custom domain, and they do not appear anywhere in your member space.

Who sees what, and who can post

Following your organization does not unlock anything. All it changes about your announcements is whether they reach someone's Explore feed in the app. Reading a members-only announcement takes an active membership; everyone else, signed in or not, sees only the ones marked for anyone.

Owners and admins can write, publish, archive and delete announcements. Other team members can see the Announcements section and the full list. If you use custom roles, grant the Announcements permissions to the roles that should write.
