Volunteer show and return rates
The share of volunteers who showed up for their shifts, came back within 30 days, and were reached by a debrief call, measured from your own attendance marks.
OrganizeOS measures how your volunteers actually show up and come back, from the Worked and No-show marks you set on each event's Volunteers tab (see Shift confirmations and attendance). The figures cover the last 90 days.
Where to find them
- On any event's Volunteers tab, the Show and return rates card sits above the roster. It is for your whole organization, not just that event, as its "Across all events, last 90 days" label says.
- In campaign workspaces, the campaign dashboard shows the same figures under Volunteer activity.
You see them if your role includes View volunteer activity and shifts. People who can only check attendees in still see the roster, without the rates. If the figures cannot be counted just then, they say so, with a Try again button, rather than showing empty figures.
What each figure means
Showed up. Of the shift places you marked, the share marked Worked. Places nobody marked are not counted as no-shows; the card shows them separately as "{n} shifts not marked", so a roster nobody marked never reads 0%. Mark your rosters to make this figure accurate.
Came back within 30 days. Of the people whose first worked shift with you was in the last 90 days and at least 30 days ago, the share who worked another of your shifts on a later day, within 30 days of that first shift. Any event counts, including a later day of the same event; a second shift on the same day does not. Days are counted in each event's time zone. Someone who started in the last 30 days is not counted yet.
Debrief calls that reached them. Of the debrief tasks created in the last 90 days, the share whose debrief says you talked.
The planning show rate
The campaign dashboard also shows the show rate your plans should assume. Once you have marked at least 30 shifts in the last 90 days, it is your measured rate, labelled measured. Until then it is 50%, labelled planning default, not measured: a common rule of thumb that about half of sign-ups show up, not something measured from your volunteers.
There is no comparison of volunteers who were debriefed with those who were not: who gets a debrief call is not random, so that comparison would mislead.
