Canvass event outcomes
How to read door-knock results for a canvass-type event, including headline metrics and a per-canvasser breakdown.
On this page
The Outcomes tab gives you a post-field summary of a canvass event: how many doors your team knocked, how many conversations happened, and how each individual canvasser performed. The tab is only present on events of type canvass; it does not appear on other event types.
Finding outcomes
Open the event in your workspace. If the event is a canvass type, the tab bar at the top of the event page includes an Outcomes tab. The tab is visible to workspace owners and admins who have event-editing permission.
If the event has not yet started, the tab shows a notice that outcomes will appear once the canvass begins. Results populate as canvassers check in and start their sessions.
Headline metrics
Five metric cards appear at the top of the page, each drawn from the attempts canvassers recorded during the event:
| Metric | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Doors knocked | Total number of door attempts logged across all canvassers |
| Contacts made | Attempts where the result was a successful contact, shown as a count and a percentage of doors knocked |
| Refusals | Attempts where the resident declined or the result was marked hostile |
| Not home | Attempts where no one answered or the canvasser was asked to return later |
| Walk list completion | Distinct addresses attempted divided by the total addresses on the assigned walk lists, shown as a percentage |
Walk list completion shows a dash if no walk list was linked to the event's shifts.
Per-canvasser breakdown
Below the headline cards, a table lists every canvasser who started a session during the event. Rows are sorted by doors knocked, highest first. Each row shows:
- Canvasser name
- Doors knocked by that person
- Contacts made by that person
- Hours spent in active sessions, rounded to one decimal place
Hours for any canvasser whose session is still in progress reflect their time so far. The table does not appear until at least one canvasser has started a session.
Exporting attendance data
The Outcomes tab does not have its own export. If you need a list of attendees and shift assignments, use the RSVP export on the RSVPs tab: it produces a CSV with name, contact information, shift, role, and any registration question answers. The outcomes numbers are separate from RSVP status and are not included in that file.
Why this matters
Door-knock results scattered across individual canvassers can be hard to read at a glance. The Outcomes tab pulls those records together so you can see at one time how many doors your team reached, which canvassers drove the most activity, and whether your walk lists were completed. That summary helps you debrief your team after the field, spot capacity gaps before the next event, and build a record of canvassing output over time.
The metrics here come from the same canvassing sessions, walk lists, and attempt records that power the standalone Canvassing tool. Linking a walk list to an event shift is what ties the canvassing activity to a specific event, which is what makes the Outcomes tab populate. See Creating an event for how to set up shifts when you create a canvass event.
