Join an organization

You found an organization you want to be part of, and you have an OrganizeOS account. This walks through the join itself: where to start, what to fill in, and where you end up.

If you do not have an OrganizeOS account yet, create one first; the rest of this page assumes you are signed in.

Open the organization's page

Your starting point is the organization's profile page on OrganizeOS. There are three ways you might arrive there:

• A link an admin shared that goes straight to the org profile
• Searching for the org from your dashboard
• An invitation email with a join link

The URL looks like /organizations/<id>. You will see the org's name, logo, description, and a primary action button. The button label depends on how the org accepts members:

• Join when the org accepts new members openly. You become a member immediately.
• Request to join when the org reviews each new member. Your request goes to the admins for approval.
• Invitations only when the org does not accept open requests. You will need an explicit invite from someone inside the org.

Pick a membership tier

If the organization has more than one tier (for example, a free supporter tier and a dues-paying tier), the Join button opens a small dialog asking which tier you want. Tiers can differ in benefits, voting rights, or dues; the dialog shows the description the org wrote for each.

If the org has only one tier, or has a default tier set, the dialog skips this step and assigns you the default.

Pick the tier that fits where you are right now. Some tiers can be changed later from your member home; others require admin action. Read the descriptions before choosing.

Submit and wait (if needed)

Click Join in the dialog.

• Open join: the page refreshes and the action button now reads Member home. You are a member.
• Request to join: the dialog confirms your request was sent. You stay on the org profile, and an admin will review and approve. You will see the change next time you load the page.

For request-mode joins, there is no timer; approvals depend on the admins. Reach out to whoever shared the join link if you have not heard back in a few days.

Land at your member home and set up the basics

Once you are a member, click Member home on the org profile (or visit /member while signed in). This is where the org-specific experience lives: your membership card with your current tier, upcoming events you can RSVP to, the community feed and any direct messages, plus quick actions for whatever the org has set up.

You can belong to multiple organizations on the same OrganizeOS account. Each one has its own member home; you switch between them from your dashboard.

Two short follow-ups make the rest of your time on the platform smoother:

• Turn on two-factor authentication. Not required for plain members, but the strongest single thing you can do to keep your account safe. See two-factor authentication.
• Fill in your profile. Your name and a short bio help organizers and other members recognize you. Profile lives under your account settings.

If the org runs events, RSVP to the next one that fits (event RSVPs). If they handle donations or volunteer shifts, those have their own member-side pages too.

Why this matters

The join itself is a small action, but it is the moment a stranger becomes a member. Whatever the org does next (announcements, asks, shifts, donations) reaches you only because you are on this list. Picking the right tier up front and turning on the basic security defaults means the platform fades into the background and the actual work the org is doing comes to the front.
