Getting help from the docs

Getting startedUpdated October 3, 2026

How the help center is organized, how to search it, and how to ask the Help Advisor a question.

On this page

The help center covers OrganizeOS for two kinds of reader, and it always shows which one you are reading.

Two sides: for members and for organizers

  • For members is for people who belong to an organization: events, volunteering, giving, messages, and your account.
  • For organizers is for the owners, admins and staff who run an organization's workspace.

On a computer, the switch at the top of every page shows which side the page you are reading belongs to, and takes you to the other side's home. The trail above each article's title names the side too. Each side has a home page listing every topic and article on it, with a short description of each.

At the end of an article, Previous and Next take you through that side in the same order as the menu, and each one names the topic it leads to.

On a phone, the menu button at the top left opens the full list of articles. You can switch it between the two sides to browse without leaving the article you are on.

Searching

Press / or Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac) on any page, or select the search box. Articles appear as you type.

  • Type a few words, like "recurring donations", and Enter opens the best matching article.
  • Type a question, like "how do I cancel my recurring donation?", and the first option is to ask the Help Advisor instead.
  • Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on a Mac) always asks the Help Advisor.

If nothing matches, you can tell us what you were looking for, which helps us write the articles people need.

Asking the Help Advisor

The Help Advisor answers questions using the articles in this help center. Your question appears straight away, and the answer follows below it. Under each answer, From the docs lists the articles it drew on and which side each one is for; select one to read it.

  • It answers for the side you are reading. Ask on a member article and it answers as it would for a member. From the help center's front page, it answers for whichever side your question fits.
  • Ask follow-up questions in the box at the bottom. It remembers what you asked earlier in the conversation.
  • Opening an article from an answer keeps the conversation. Open search again and choose Continue your conversation to pick up where you left off.
  • New conversation clears it and starts over.
  • If a question can't be answered right then, the Help Advisor says so and puts your question back in the box so you can try again.

The Help Advisor only knows what the help center says. It can't see your account or your organization's records, so for anything specific to your organization, ask its organizers. It answers questions about using OrganizeOS only: ask it about something else and it says it can only help with that.

The Help Advisor is an AI assistant, and the line under the question box says so. It can be wrong, so check anything important against the articles it cites.

Telling us what's missing

At the end of every article, Was this helpful? lets you vote. If you choose No, you can say what you were looking for.
